THE BARN
The renovation of this 16th century cob barn in the Teign Valley has been a labour of love for the current steward: a keen horsewoman and conservator. She wanted simple ledge & brace doors in English Oak (sustainably and locally sourced), so the sheer weight and scale presented some interesting challenges: three straining, sweating blokes were required to hang each door, on a suitably robust frame, set into the 3ft thick cob walls. Hanging the matching door on the adjoining storeroom was a comparative delight.
